Plans certainly did not start off well with the proposed meeting in the Vic being abandoned due to traffic delays and it being absolutely rammed around 7.00pm.
Hotel Xmas parties tend to be much of a muchness (e.g. The Copthorne when we went there a few years ago), but all the Chap & Chapesses agreed that this was one of the best Chap Xmas do's we've had.
Sitting down just after 8, just as the 'free bar' had opened we were pleasantly surprised at the standard of grub that was served. Originally booked for 14, only 12 could make it with Jo and Kitty unable to attend. However, that did not mean that 2 meals were lost for all time, no Chap and Phil demolished 2 dinners each and Phil topped it of with a second pudding.
The 'free bar' was 8 till 12 with the party rocking on till 2.00am. There was an Elvis tribute act on who was pretty good followed by the DJ blasting out some decent tunes. This lead to a bit of dancing not only on the dance floor, but in the aisles and also on the chairs and tables as well.
At 11.45, Chap and the others made sure that enough drink was obtained to see them well passed the 12.00am threshold. Steve H commenting about Chap's gin consumption capabilities.
A really good night was had by all despite the wait for taxi's for some of us. Hopefully will go there for Xmas 2016, but Sim needs to put his thinking cap on for what his 'organisation' will be called.
