5.00pm - 7.30pm The Old Royal in town
7.30pm - wherever the Beer Scooter takes us !!!!!!
The Chaps started to assemble in the Old Royal around 5.00pm. Chap was quickly joined by Rog and Simber's followed by Phil, Dave, Ted and finally Sadam (Steve - note this was who Simber's thought Sadders looked like when he was plucked from the hole !!!! (and more about plucking later!!!)). A few jars of London Pride, Rosy Nosey (the local Xmas brew!!) and some sad beer (lager) were consumed whilst watching the Rugby and discussing the Villa win at Blackburn (first away win in many moons !!). It should be noted that Tone and Nige sent their apologies (secretly watching the Pop Idol final - methinks !!!, although Nige did protest his innocence in a text message)
After the Rugger we decided to head for the Old Joint Stock to sample the ale there, here Phil met his new girlfriend who we all instantly recognized (from certain angles - no more explanation needed!). A quick couple of jars we had before moving on down to the Troc to meet up with Aimee and her mates, however the Troc ain't what it used to be so we decided the revert back to the OJS.
Back in the OJS for more beer, the topic of conversation got on to the subject of bodily hair, Simber's had commented on the 'Super Furry Ear- lobes' of Syrup and this led to the various comments from the Chaps regarding nose hair, ear hair and bushy eye brows, but we were not finished there however when Simber's stopped the show with his admission to plucking the white pubic hairs from his body. This really opened up the can of worms with furious discussion on the subject, most people not admitting to inspecting for the white or grey hairs down below!!.
At closing time, Rog & Simber's departed for home leaving, Phil to a party and Chap, Dave, Steve and Ted to head for the Adam & Eve. There was no band on at the A & E but a DJ, Steve got on the stage for his usual head banging master class and was soon joined by Dave who acquired a shiny cowboy hat to cover the chrome dome from somewhere. More beer was consumed until the curry house came calling. Dave decided to stay whilst Chap, Ted & Steve went for a ruby, however we managed to loose Steve at this point (not had any photos yet so he may not have got home !!!).
The curry was up to it's usual standards, but not the Naans, which were a bit salty - however the topic of conversation from the next table did raise an interesting question !! - who would you rather wake up next to, Doug Ellis or Karen Brady ?, food for thought eh Chaps.
Finally time for home and a good night had by all.
