Tone's Birthday session 22.03.08

Plan for the day

Meet in the Old Contemptibles around 5.30pm

7.30pm - Possibly the Adam & Eve (just out of interest these guys are the advertised band for the night)

Review

Simbers and Chap duly arrived as planned in the OC's, eager to drown the sorrows of yet another abysmal display from the Villa, who had managed to lose 1-0 to Sunderland of all people. Here we found Steve (Tone's brother) who was out for an early evening sup. We were soon joined by Tone and Ian and finally Dave and Phil to start the nights festivities.

Whilst settling in to a few pints of Adnams, Timmy Taylor's and the like, 'Columbo' Simbers and Tone discussed their recent culinary experiences (and I can remember when Tone could only muster beans on toast!!), whilst the other chaps debated on whether or not Tone's expenses account had been the cause of the credit crunch!!. Jo popped in for a while, but decided to take advantage of a rare opportunity to sit in the dip in the three-piece left by Tone and have exclusive access to the TV remote!!.

After several ales, it was time to move on and despite the original plan the Chaps headed for the Actress & Bishop. The A & B was strangely subdued with the lights turned up  and no DJ (might have been the Easter Hol effect). We steamed in for a few more beers although the Oakhams ale was not up to the standard of those offered by the O.C's. A emergency WATN committee meeting was held, and it was decided that should Rog fail to turn up for the next session a red-card should be issued (he has been warned.). The chaps also took a beating on the quiz machine whist supping a few more beers. The night did pick up with the DJ arriving around 9.30pm, but the pub still remained fairly quiet.

Around 10.45, Simbers and Ian departed for the train home, Chap bailed out to the kebab shop around 11.15 leaving Tone waiting for a taxi and Phil and Dave to continue on into the night.
