Meet in the Old Royal around 5.30pm
7.30pm - wherever the Wig-ed one decideth!!!!
The day did not start to brightly as the Villa lost 2-1 to Man City. Simber's & Chap did not wait for the 'lap of dishonour' and decided to head up town to meet the birthday boy Rog in the Old Royal. We arrived to find Rog, Tone & Steve (Tone's brother) already there, so we wasted no time in playing catch-up by consuming plenty of ale. We were soon joined by Ian and Steve to complete the merry band of chaps and downed several more beers whilst watching the Baggies obtain a creditable draw against the Mancscum. Jo also joined us straight from work for a beer or two. Around 8.00pm we decided to head for pastures new - Tone made his now customary 'church bazaar' excuse leaving the remaining Chaps, Rog, Simber's, Ian, Steve & Chap to walk the mean streets of Brum and head to the Shakespeare.
The Shakespeare (on the edge of the Jewellery Quarter) was Rog's choice - not a bad boozer, good atmosphere, decent beer and also a beer garden for the dizzy summer nights. Here the Chaps sat down to drink a few more beers and have quite a few political discussions as it was relevant following the recent elections. Whilst Rog made himself 'King for the Day', the chaps discussed topics including which of the party leaders you would have a beer with - Charles Kennedy came out tops (wonder if it has anything to do with him liking a jar or five??), Rog was also pestered by some birthday guests!!.
After plenty more ale and putting the political world to rights it was time to head for a curry. Ian & Simber's left us at this point to catch the last train home, leaving Rog, Steve & Chap to look for a new curry house after the demise of Sharma's. Rog made an excellent call and pointed us in the direction of the Rajdoot, just around the corner. The food was superb (if a tad pricier than were used to a Sharma's) and topped of what was a good evening.
