5.30pm - 7.30pm Hogs Head in town
7.30pm - wherever the Beer Scooter takes us !!!!!!
Dave, Simbers & Chap headed for the HH for some celebratory beers after watching Villa score an injury time winner against the blueandwhitestripeybastards (Albion). We met up with Nige and Phil who were already in the HH playing a new football game machine. Plenty of Pedigree and Stella were consumed as well sandwiches ranging from Thai Chicken, Bacon & Steak accompanied by some chips. We were joined by Deano, Ted & a blast from the past Trevor, who had not been seen for some time. Topics of conversation ranged from mortgage rates (a bit of financial impetus in the absence o Big Tone !!), Bramley Hedge (Nige's latest New Age travellers band - not really it's a kids video for Lucy) and Bonzo - sloppy seconds of whom Trevor seemed know implicitly.
Next port of call was the old Planters, which is now known as Red, and when you get inside it's quite obvious as to how it gets it's name. It's certainly gone up market since it's demise into Sputnik & was quite well populated. The beer was not too bad although a tad expensive. Not a real Chaps session pub, but ok if you want a quite night out with the missus. Still not a patch on Planters in it's golden years.
From Red to O'Neill's - the Chaps continued their assault on the bars & beers of Brum, and several more were consumed during our stay here. Nige then suggested a trip to the Tap & Spile, a hostillery that we have not frequented for some time, so a short walk down the now traffic free Broad Street was in order.
A quick pint in the Tap was followed by the now usual excursion up to the Adam & Eve - at this point Deano bailed out (buying a new house, bills, finances problems, etc, etc, blah, blah !!), but the rest of the Chaps made it. The A & E was full, but we could not have our usual pool championship as there was not one, but two bands on, the second being in the Pool room. More beers were consumed & we met another blast from the past Big Anne, who was out celebrating after the birth of her second nipper with hubby Chris. A bit of reminiscing was done & a mention of Anne having a 40th birthday bash sometime next year. (Watch this space for details).
Finally, it was left to Dave, Chap & Ted to do the decent thing & have a curry at Sharma's - needless to say, there was no repeat of last times Trouser Typhoons in the absence of Sponge
See you next time & have a good Christmas - Chap (15.12.02)
