Meet in the Old Contemptibles around 1.30pm
Catch train to Simber's at 2.15pm
Head to the Railway at 3.00pm
Back to the Forest at 6.30pm for the footy
Rog and Chap met up in the OC's for a couple of liveners before lobbing on the train to Simber's where we were greeted by another cold one from the fridge. A quick spot of electrical repairs were attempted by Chap & Sim before we gave up (later fixed by the Ginger magician - Steve). Ian joined us for the afternoon's precedings and we headed off down to the Railway for a few beers.
On route, Simbers had anticipated a quick footy session in the park, but that idea was quickly dismissed as the pub came calling. The Railway was strangely empty (nothing to do with an England game on the horizon??) so the four of us settled down to a few beers whilst enjoying the tranquillity of the beer garden. Phil and Tone also arrived during the afternoon before we took the scenic route down to the Forest for the 'main event'!!.
We arrived at the Forest and sat outside having a quick beer whilst the viewing room was prepared, Dave and Louise joined us and we were ushered in to watch the match and to have the organized curry. The food was excellent with Chap & Sim managing to sneak in 2nd's, unfortunately the footy proved to be up to England's normal tournament standard i.e. slightly above abysmal, as we struggled to a 1 - 1 draw with the USA.
Not to down-hearted we retired to the beer garden to sup some more ale before departing on our various ways home.
Things can only get better .............................................
Well perhaps not!!
