A change from the usual, we will be going to Sutton and meeting in the Case is Altered
(Now reverted to it's old name of The Gate??) around 6.00pm
7.30pm - probably the Royal Hotel for a spot of live music
Change of plan - back to the usual starting place the O.C's in town around 5.30-6.00pm.
8.00pm - onwards and upwards (in terms of pint count that is!!!)
The chaps met up in the O.C's as planned for the start of the evening's festivities, Simber's & Chap were quickly joined by Dave, Nige and followed by Phil, Tone and a welcome re-appearance of the chaps official paparazzi - Steve. Plenty of Timmy Taylor's was consumed along with other assorted ales as we discussed current affairs, etc and planned for the next port of call. We were also joined by Phil's mate, Ian (I think!! - memory is fading these days!!).
The decision was made to head off to the Yardbird to see what band was playing. Again the TT's were going down well and Rog was again docked some more cigars due to his continued absence from recent sessions. (Miss the next one Rog & it's a yellow card matey!!!). We were amused by some break dancers who had an impromptu dancing competition going on before the band appeared, although it did appear all to strenuous to Nige who had just finished a week on nights. The band when they came, were some sort of Jazz/Funk/Rap type outfit who although were very professional, were not quite the chaps cup of tea. Slowly, as the night wore on the chap numbers dwindled. Simbers, Tone & Nige sidled off into the moonlight leaving Dave, Phil, Steve and Chap to head for a ruby.
We lobbed down to the Taj Mahal where we ordered food and drink and for some unknown reason subjected young Phil to a Spanish inquisition about whether or not he 'Danced at the wrong end of the ballroom!!'??. Phil did protest his innocence (some may so to much so!!) before departing the scene. The other chaps following soon afterwards.
PS we need to find another suitable Curry House, the Taj is ok but not in the same league as the recently closed Shah's - a discussion to be had at the next session.
