Cricket Watching session 7th July 2001

The Chaps (Dave, Heggy, Nige, Ted, Tone, Phil, Simbers & Chap), duly assembled at the Newt and Cucumber for an afternoon of Cricket watching.

However, as is usual for these events the rain intervened so we ended up watching Tennis (Timbers turning a winning position into a losing one - nothing new there !!!!), Horse racing, Motor Sport and of course a bit of Cricket, again with us English having it shoved up us !!. This was interspersed with various ales and discussions about 'Council Gritters' !!, I'll leave you to think on that one.

However, this venue is not to be recommended for the forthcoming England game, as the beer is sh??te. Chap had to drink Stella as the Banks' bitter was off, and the Extra Cool Guinness was the warmest pint I've had in ages.

The Chaps left the Newt and headed for PJ's. Here, more ale was consumed coupled with the usual thrashing from the quiz machine. Enough was enough, and the Chaps headed for Zanzibar, via a visit to the chippy round the corner at about 9.00pm. Simbers bailed out at this stage, and possibly also Tone as things got a bit furry from this stage on. Some of the Chaps had a bit of a boogie while Chap we kindled the ancient art of 'Lombing' later in the evening.

For once none of the Chaps had the stamina for a curry, perhaps old age is catching up !!. Chap however did manage one final blast from the past - a Marco's kebab !!!!!.
