The Chaps (Dave, Dave 2, Tone, Rog, Phil, Ian, Simber's and Chap) assembled in Russell and Porters on Temple St for a cholesterol laden start to the day (bacon butters, etc). Around 9.00am we grabbed a couple of black cabs and headed off to the cricket. After a quick search upon entry the Chaps settled down with a bit of banter to await the days play. Some good news arrived just before play started that Glen McGrath would be missing from the Aussie line up due to injury.
The cricket got off to a great start for England, who had one the toss & decided to bat, making an opening century stand before lunch. What was more amazing was the Chaps not having a beer before 11.30am as the cricket was un-missable. (In fact only 4 or 5 beers were consumed during the cricket and that included a quick couple at lunchtime!!!). A breath taking days play saw England score over 400 runs before being bowled out 30 mins before the close of play. We were just getting ready to see a 20 min onslaught on the Aussie opening batsmen when the rain came to finish what had been an excellent days cricket.
After the cricket it was time for a bit of exercise and a quick Simberesque route march to Tone's pub the Moseley Arms. Here Tone had a buffet laid on for the cricket weary chaps and the chance to lubricate the throat with plenty of ale. The obligatory games of pool and killer soon followed.
Slowly the Chaps departed ready for the following nights session Tone's stag night - a great day was had by all.
