Meet in the Queens Arms Newhall Street from 5.00pm
6.30pm - Rose Villa Tavern - Hockley
7.30pm - The Drop Forge - Hockley
8.30pm onwards - The Lord Cliffden - Hockley
Unusually, Chap was the last to arrive at the Queens Arms shortly after five. Tone, Steve, Phil, Rog (The Rt Hon. Mayor of Talybont) and the Brosely boys Daz, Aide and Mark were all nicely seated supping ale and chatting or watching the Wales v Australia rugby. Apologies were accepted from Ian (Some Tory Party party elsewhere!) and Dave who was inspecting mounds again in Cumbria. After a beer or 4 and some light refreshments (pork scratchings or sausage and mash), the merry mob moved on to Hockley and the Rose Villa Tavern.
A quick pint was had at the RVT as it was not as good in there as previously remembered, there again it was pouring down with rain on that occasion and as they say 'Any port in a storm' was the motto for that evening. A short walk was in order for to the Drop Forge.
The Drop Forge was definitely up a level form the RVT in both terms of ale choice and quality but also decor and demeanour. However, we only stayed for one as the main object of the evening was to get to the Lord Cliffden and spend the rest of the evening there.
The Lord Cliffden proved to be quite entertaining with the Chaps spending all of the evening outside in the covered patio area. Plenty of ale was consumed with Chap and Daz also partaking in a chicken burger cooked on the BBQ. The DJ played some crap music early on, this did slightly improve later but only Chap and Phil were still going to hear this. Daz provided the entertaining speech of the night with his diatribe of 'Wolves are in a better position then the Villa' because you would rather see you old division 3 team win all their games compared to watching premier league football, go figure!!. The Brosely boys made their way to the train around 10 ish, followed by Sim, Rog Steve and Tone. Chap and Phil remained until 1.00am looking at the amusing sights and listening to some slightly better music.
