Might go for a beer in town b4 the game at the Old Royal - let us know if your interested
5.30pm - 7.30pm Hogs Head in town, hopefully they will still be serving grub!!
7.30pm - wherever the Beer Scooter takes us !!!!!!
Simber's & Chap lobbed into the Old Royal for three pre - match Speckled Hens, this was in anticipation of the usually dogs fodder that was about to be observed at Villa Park. It was a close call as to stay or not to stay in the pub, but we dragged ourselves up to the taxi rang at 2.15pm. The taxi driver was a Bluenose, and a reasonably intelligent one for a change who recognised our poor and murky plight !!.
The game for a change was more entertaining than the recent crap we have experienced, and but for Antini whotisname in the Saints goal, Villa could have been home & dry by half time. It was left to Dubbers the new Villa centre back to score the winner just on half time, and although one goal is not usually enough for the Villa, the Saints could have played all week and never scored.
Dave, Simber's & Chap left the game and headed for the Hogshead, where we were met by Rog. Slight problem with the plan was the lack of draught beers (cockup on the cellerman front!!), but after a bit of grub (Simber's having the Steak and ale Syrup - sorry pie and Chap & Dave the Chicken burgers) and a couple of jars of the black nectar it was time to move on. We were at this point joined by one of Rog's relations, Chris who is a sociology stude from Bournemouth to swell the numbers to five. He had also come up for the game and decided to venture out with the Chaps.
Next point of call was Reflex on Broad Street - a bit of 80's nostalgia and a chance to have a chat with an old mate Deano the former Bar Nevada DJ - the beer was still flowing as was the jobsworth doorman who asked Chris to leave an hour after being in the pub because he had trainers on - what a prat, but he was easily out smarted by the Chaps who went and hid by the DJ console. Around 9.45 it was decided to head for pastures new - the Old Royal was on the cards but DF suddenly came up with a master plan to have a go on the Birmingham Wheel - this proved to be a good call as the views at night are spectacular and it always seems a bit better when you're half pissed and sharing a cab with four other pissed up Chaps.
After the fairground attraction, we lobbed in a joey to the Adam and Eve - there was a live band on but I can't remember too much about them, the French girl behind the bar was having a few problems with the Brummie lingo, but we managed to order some Guinness and lager. Rog crashed the cigars (even Simber's had one) whilst Dave chatted to one of his claimants ????? (Rog's expression not mine!!). Simber's departed just after eleven and a fairly subdued bunch of chaps followed shortly after to Sharma's for a ruby to round the night off.
It was agreed that the Chaps pre Christmas session would be held on Saturday 20th December.
