Review

The first wave of chaps departed at 6.00am in the morning with Phil and Dave heading south in the passion wagon. Wave 2 were set to depart at 17.30 with Rog picking up Chap at 17.00 which went to plan. However, the plan was skewed slightly by big T who did not arrive home until 17.30 and thus delayed the departing time until 17.45.  Tone did his best to prevent the second wave getting to the Standard for last orders with his idea of getting on the M5 at junction 4 instead of Junction 2 but Rog the Flying machine Hesp was having none of it and touching speeds of over 100mph on the A30 managed to get there at 10.09 pm in time to say hello to 'Cheerie Dave' et all at the Std.

Thursday

A nice sunny day greeted the  6 chaps in the morning. Following a bit of toast for brekkie the plans were set to head for St Mawes. The first group Rog, Dave & Phil did the usual walk to Place foot ferry followed closely by Tone & Steve who caught the 11.45am bus. Chap followed later on the 13.40pm bus via a quick walk round the village and a pint or 2 in the Standard.

The afternoon was the usual sitting out side the Rising Sun getting Rattled. Phil was up to his usual tricks of impressing the women (claiming to the mature lady sitting close to him that he was not looking up her dress with all the innocence of a wolf!!.) whilst the other chaps just chilled. There was also the mysterious case of the 'bog-buster' in the RS toilet. Phil denied all knowledge but we still have our suspicions.

We lobbed on the 16.03 bus back where the children 'Phil and Rog' had to have a water fight before arriving back just before Sim and Ian arrived bringing the brekkie & BBQ supplies, etc. for the fridge.

After a quiet chill for an hour we set off for the Plume of Feathers for some scram. Beers sorted we sat down at the table in the cave waiting to order. Phil was his usual conspicuous self, by trying to attract the attention of the bar made with multiple references to 'cheesecake' which as usual failed miserably!!. Food ordered and demolished, a couple of more beers were taken whilst standing out-side the Plume in the pleasant evening air. Around 9.30 a break-away party made off for the trek up 'Cardiac Hill' back to the Standard leaving Dave looking after the 'Lad' Phil at the Plume.

The Standard was rammed, NOT,  but we had a couple of more beers before closing time. Dave arrived minus Phil saying he's left him burbling back at the Plume. We headed back to the Ranch for further refreshments (Ale, Pork-pie, etc) wondering what had happened to the Phil with various scenarios being banded around. In the end after a few chaps had fallen by the wayside Phil turned up around 12.45am a complete gibbering wreck. Despite being interrogated by Chap and Steve we could not quite make out what he was on about.

That was not the last of Phil's exploits as Chap found him rustling up a black pudding omelette at 2.00am in the morning!!

Friday

Most of the Chaps (well all except Phil) rose early. Mr Fish lobbed off to get home and is probably on the train as now as I write. Ian and Sim doing brekkie duties before planning the days activities.

A gentle start to the day and a decision to get the 11.40am bus to St.Mawes and the ferry across to Falmouth was the plan. Arriving at St.Mawes we resisted the temptation to sit outside the Rising Sun all day and made the 12.15 pm ferry to Falmouth (I hope Dave is not a betting man).

Off the ferry in Falmouth and straight to the Chainlocker to sup a couple of beers whilst soaking up the sunshine musing over Phil's Or was it 'Barmy Boris's' ghostly apparitions from the night before. As the sun had risen over the yard-arm, well the Chainlocker the chaps headed down Falmouth High street to the library!!. Yes that's correct a library, except this one sold draught beer as well as books!. A quick pint was had whilst sitting outside in the library court-yard also allowing Phil to go and by a book, Steve also commented it was the best pint of lager he had ever tasted and the ale was not to bad either. Final port of call in Falmouth was the Prince of Wales, conveniently positioned for the ferry back to St.Mawes and M&S so Tone could stock up on curries (3 purchased would they all make it home to Brum??). Beer, food and pool abated in the PoW before it was time to head back to St.Mawes via the ferry. Arriving at 5.40 in St.Mawes gave us a couple of hours to kill in the usual haunt the Rising Sun before heading back to base on the bus.

Arriving back in Gerrans a plan was made to get some Pizzas from the cafe down the road. These were ordered for 9.30 giving us time to head down the Plume for a few more Rattlers and for Phil to find out off the gaffer what he's been up to the night before!. Beer drunk and pizzas collected we headed back to the ranch to watch a bit of the Ryder Cup and a chance for Victor 'Chap' Meldew to make an appearance!!. I need to mention the famous Simbers route march back up Gerrans (Cardiac) Hill in world record time, even the Ape was struggling to keep up with him. Tone had a curry and the rest of the Chaps refrained from demolishing the rest once he'd dozed off.

Saturday - Pizza gate and The Chaps meet Pepper Pig!!!!

Again another easy start to the day with a consortium of Rog, Steve and Ian on brekkie duties. The plan for the day, St.Mawes again but not via the Place foot ferry. Lobbing on the 11.40 am bus we did get off at the top to exercise the old leg muscles and walk down to St.Mawes via the Castle. First port of call was the Victory. The Chaps were sympathetic to the V as it was empty when we arrived and thought we'd give them some custom. It was here that Pizza-gate reared it's ugly head. Tone (Accountants never put down the Abacus!!) claimed that the Chap Kitty fund had been used for food ordering, and not 3 bags of scratching either!!. Sim, Ian Chap, Rog and Phil had eaten the pizzas from the night before with Steve and Tone not liking them!!. Although we protested Steve had eaten a chip we were found guilty of mis-appropriation of Chap funds and duly had to pass a motion to allow Steve and Tone to pay reduced contributions for the next time. A couple of beers were had in the V whilst sitting on the roof-top balcony although Tone did not climb the stairs.

Following the Victory it was time to head for the Rising Sun and for Steve to have his first taste of Rattler. A shower or two meant the chaps were in and out of the pub in the sunshine having a quiet pint or 6. It was during this time that Pepper Pig made an appearance, well a small toy version that one of the kids had dropped in the pub. This led to a whole episode of silly chap entertainment as Pepper made some new episodes targeted more for the adult viewing time, 'Pepper gets rattled', 'Pepper tokes with friends' and 'Pepper goes Ape skinny dipping' being the latest additions. After filming, Pepper was re-united with her rightful owners when a kindly old gentleman (Sim) returned her!!. With the 4pm bus arriving we had to persuade Steve to leave the RS as he was now hooked on Rattler, Tone also stepped in banning him from staying on the bus in Gerrans to go down to the Plume. It comes to something when Carling is not king!!.

Evening time was Steak, chips and onion rings night. With Ian and Rog on the chips and Onion rings, Rog (you can never have enough shades) Hesp rustled up the steaks on the BBQ. Good grub as always and a mention to Ian's mate the butcher who supplied excellent meat of various guises for the weekend.

This allowed us a final visit to the Standard to spend the remaining kitty before returning back to finish off a few more jars whilst watching golf and Die Hard 2!.

Sunday

A gentle start and BBQ's sausage toasties supplied by Tone (and chap on the BBQ the previous evening) before the usual regimental clean up before departing. Phil headed off to Pentewan Sands leaving the rest of the Chaps to head home to Brum (via the Farm Shop at Telly-Tubby land).

An excellent weekend again Chaps here's to next year, although I think the Tuesday maybe a day to far!!
