Just confirmed - DTW11 in Barmouth, full details to follow
Thursday.
Rog duly did the honours by collecting Chap, Ian and Phil around 4.00pm. As usual it was all aboard the Rog express down to Barmouth with Chap and Phil showing excellent bottle handling skills in the car, one for the road so to speak.
We arrived around 7.30pm and quickly settled in before lobbing down to Henry's or Nineteen57 as it's now called. Bit of a transformation here as it's now a smart swanky place rather than the old spit and sawdust of previous years. We met up with Daz his mate Tony and Welsh Dave and got into some serious supping. We also joined by a couple of other members of the caravan community to party the night away. Beer and food demolished we headed back to Rug's van to party hard into the wee small hours, with a fair amount of gin disappearing down Phil's neck. This continued on till around 2.30 when things were getting a bit feisty until Rog called time. Mr Hilas fell asleep with a strategically placed candle for good measure.
Friday
The Chaps had to resort to cooking their own scram as the Coffee Pot was closed. Bacon and Sausage sarnies were the order of the day accompanied by half a bottle of gin if you name was Phil!!. We decide to walk down the beach to Barmouth as it was a nice morning and the tide was out. this proved to be longer the planned as Phil was the straggler with and injured knee and the 1/2 bottle of mothers ruin inside him!!.
We arrived at the first pub the Min-Y-Mor hotel. As it was sunny we sat outside with Dumber and Dumber sank a few beers and had a tremendous game of 'Hide the iPod' much to Phil's disgust.
Moving on we headed to the Talydon. here we had the usual game of killer, with Phil trying to kill Chap with couple of badly misplaced throws whilst consuming plenty more ale. We decide to head back to Talybont on the 6.00pm train. Needless to say there were casualties!!.
The evening was spent in 1957 and the Sands with a quick dive to Billy's for food. Plenty of ale quathed and a more sedate night than the previous 2.30am melee was in order.
Saturday
This brought the arrival of Dave and Simbers (racing down in the Lotus). The bacon and sausage brekkie was in order but this time without the gin option. The Chaps the headed of for the Fairbourne open. The annual Chap golf tournament. This year the usual suspects did not win (Dave and Rog) abd it was left to Brain to claim the spoils. A good afternoon was had. We caught the train back to Barmouth and sat outside the Talydon in glorious sunshine supping a few beers. The cap of rebuke also made a guest appearance with Rog being the primary wearer!. Ales consumed we finally mad it for a ruby. This has been mooted on all previous DTW's but had never materialised. The chaps lobbed in to Saffron for a rather tasty treat before obtaining a taxi back to talybont. Final call for the weekend was a beer or 2 in 1957 before retiring for the night.
Sunday
Usual bacon and sausage for brekkie followed by a quick clean up before departure. A good week end had by all.
