Plan for the day

Meet in the Shakespeare on temple Street (One by New Street Station) from 5.00pm

Possible establishments on the tour after are the Sun on the Hill and the Alchemist (Grand Hotel)

Review

Steve and Chap were first to arrive at the Shakespeare, which has become a very busy pub these days. Quickly obtaining an ale we made our way outside to the smoking area as it was less crowded. We were soon joined by Tone and Phil before a quiet sociable drink was interrupted by the noisy footy fans from WBA who erupted into a rendition of 'Shit on the Villa' as they arrived and some Man City fans who were not as noisy but just as obnoxious. With Sim and Ape following in the wake of the footy tribes we quickly supped up and headed for the next establishment.

Despite it being Saturday and Phil thinking it would be rammed the Sun on the Hill was not too bad. A few decent ales were to be had along with a bit of DTW13 reminiscing, the Steve vs. Sim photo competition (which Steve was adjudicated to have won by the panel of experts) and Phil thinking of getting rid of the yellow love-machine, chopping it in for a big F.O. 4 x 4 as he was lonely after the chaps left him down in Cornwall and was suffering from van-depression. The stay at the SOTH was curtailed following the removal of the seating arrangements to suit the dancing numpties who would be arriving later.

The last port of call was the Old Joint Stock. Usual selection of Fullers Ales to try with a varied selection of lager and ciders. The chaps got a discussion going on retirement plans, yeah a sad thought that is not to far away these days!!. The general consensus was to get a Chap retirement commune set-up in Cornwall with Tone already eyeing up The Old Gerrans Bay hotel as being a likely candidate!. A few ales were drunk before it was getting past some of the chaps bedtimes. Steve and the DD's departed first followed soon after by Tone. Chap & Phil stayed to kicking out time sneaking in a final pint and a bowl of scratchings.

Despite Phil's best endeavours to stay out later, even he succumbed to an earlier than normal night for him catching the last bus home in a similar fashion to Chap.
